Taylor Jayne is the creation of Kirsty Taylor who has always had an unwavering passion for interiors, the more quirky, unique and luxurious they are the better and this love has only grown since we opened our doors for the first time on the 6th of December 2013. After working in retail for many years Kirsty wanted to offer other people the help and ability to fill their homes with statement pieces that add that little bit of something special, so when the opportunity arose the first shop was set up in the leafy town of Reigate, Surrey. It didn’t take long for the shop to start getting attention, who could miss the bold exterior, the ever-changing window displays or the naughty quote of the week! With the small team of friendly staff Taylor Jayne offers you a personal, more involved way to shop – we’re always on hand for a chat about the direction you want to take your home, or maybe you just want to pop in and meet our resident pug and team mascot.
Taylor Jayne is more than just a shop, it’s a lifestyle and the team here is what makes shopping and working here so special, we like to think of ourselves as fun loving, unique, social people, who all have a passion for what we do; so here we would like to introduce the team to you!
Kirsty has been extremely honest while writing her bio for Taylor Jayne. Originally she trained as a chef when first leaving school, a few years on she then fell on to the path of interior retail and a spell in fashion, it was then that she then realised she had found her niche. Loving and enjoying every aspect of the industry she is in and she overflows, to the annoyance of some, with passion and enthusiasm... TA DA that’s when Taylor Jayne was then created, her middle name and surname swapped round. Now she can share her eccentric, off-the-wall, flamboyant, quirky, the list goes on, taste with the public, which is exciting!
If Kirsty had to sum herself up it would be: rocky, eccentric, tomboy esk style with a love of bold, different jewellery and shoes. She’s a black coffee drinker, tries her hardest to be gluten free, a gym addict, who in her own words, says if she didn’t train would turn into the Hulk! (ask her three kids!)
Obsessed with Pugs, Maud is her 4th (furry) baby. She loves the sea and beaches and has an ever growing bucket list that never seems to shrink! Kirsty is partial to a Bloody Mary and a large glass of red wine, loves a random night out on the tiles with the future Hubby and Pals to dance the night away, because she does actually believe that she’s the lost member of Glee possibly due to the Bloody Marys!
Chaos seems to be a major factor in her life so far and her answer to everything – DO IT, ITS CHARACTER BUILDING!
Jenny: Business Development Manager
On the heels of finishing her degree in Furniture Design and Make at the National School of Furniture Jenny gained a passion for interiors, design history and unique objects. So after commuting back every weekend from Oxford to work in the shop for sixteen months finally join the Taylor Jayne staff full time to develop the business and the website. Here she gets to indulge herself in all manner of quirky and individual pieces that inspire her creative side. Jenny’s personal style is a mix of Minimal Scandinavian and Industrial Living which can be seen in her ‘Funeral Chic’ style clothes; if you see her in colour it’s a minor miracle. When Jenny isn’t at work she loves shopping and partying like most other 23 year olds. She also has a slight addiction to coffee and can’t function without it in the mornings or in her terms "can’t adult".
Flo: Sales Assistant
With a background in Print Design And Textiles, Flo is the newest member of the Taylor Jayne team. Since graduating from Winchester School of Art a few years back, she was based in New York selling fashion prints, but has now setteled back in Surrey to be a little closer to home. Flo's obsession for skulls and all things Kitsch is getting a little out of control - she would be the first one to admit this. She has a love for topknots and scarfs, rarely being seen without one or the other.
Maud: Team Mascot / Resident Pug
Maud is the bringer of joy to the team, and although she may be mischievous she loves cuddles and has a heart of gold that makes men, women and children fall in love with her. Everyone here at Taylor Jayne has come to the conclusion that she may have more fans than us! However, she is definitely a ‘mummy’s girl’
